Colonial Treasures Of Mexico & Leisure in Puerto Vallarta

Colonial Treasures Of Mexico & Leisure in Puerto Vallarta

Day 1. Mexico City.

Arrival at the airport by a Mexican driver. Transfer and accommodation at the hotel. Free evening for relaxation.

Day 2. Mexico City – Teotihuacan – Basilica around 8 am.

At 08:30, a city center sightseeing tour includes visits to Zocalo Square – the country’s political center, the cathedral, the Presidential Palace with famous murals by Mexican artist Diego Rivera. You’ll also drive along Mexico’s most beautiful street, Paseo de la Reforma, renowned for its numerous monuments and memorials. Then, discover “the city where people become gods” – Teotihuacan and see the famous Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. During the tour, you’ll visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe (patroness of Mexico), steeped in legends and miracles. Return to the hotel. Rest.

Day 3. Mexico City – Atlantes of Tula (96 km) – Guanajuato (295 km).

Breakfast. Departure from Mexico City to the ancient capital of the Toltecs – Tula. You will see the majestic Pyramid of the Morning Star, famous stone sculptures of warriors – Atlantes, a frieze depicting jaguars and eagles devouring human hearts, and much more. Then you will head to the colonial city of Guanajuato, whose name translates from the language of the local Indians as “hilly place of frogs.” Indian legends spoke of rich deposits of precious metals in this place, so the Spaniards began their mining. Numerous mines remain in the city, creating an impressive subterranean scheme of tunnels, visiting one of which is planned during the excursion. Old churches, colonial buildings, cozy squares, and winding streets on steep hillsides give the city a special beauty. Hotel accommodation. Free time.

Day 4. Guanajuato – Sightseeing Tour – Museum of the Mummies – Guadalajara (274 km).

Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Guanajuato, also known as the “city of lovers”. Here, you’ll visit the Kissing Alley, which got its name from the narrow passage: two opposing balconies are separated by a distance of only 69 centimeters. According to legend, a wealthy family lived on this street, and their daughter fell in love with an ordinary miner. They were forbidden to see each other, but the miner rented a room opposite, and the lovers exchanged kisses secretly from these balconies. You’ll also visit the Museum of the Mummies – the only museum in the world that houses naturally mummified human bodies. Researchers believe that the mineral composition of the soil and the dry atmosphere created perfect conditions for mummification (open any day except Monday). Transfer to Guadalajara. Rest at the hotel.

Day 5. Guadalajara – Tequila Tasting at Casa Sauza – Tequila Town (70 km) – Relaxation in Puerto Vallarta.

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the famous Casa Sauza distillery in Jalisco, dedicated to producing tequila since 1873. Casa Sauza, like other tequila-producing factories, is protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. This tour includes a walk through blue agave plantations, a visit to a hacienda steeped in legends, and a presentation on the tequila production process followed by a tasting. In the second part of the tour, visit the picturesque town of Tequila, which gave its name to the Mexican fiery drink – tequila. The town of Tequila was named after a dormant volcano with the same name. More than half of all the blue agave harvested in the country grows on the slopes of this volcano, which rises one and a half kilometers above sea level, and the drink can be called tequila only if it was produced in the states of Jalisco, Guanajuato, Michoacan, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas.
After the tequila tasting, head to Puerto Vallarta – a resort city located on the shores of Banderas Bay, on the Pacific coast of Mexico. The colonial city with cobblestone streets and tiled roof buildings harmoniously coexists with ultra-modern hotels. End of the program. Free time and relaxation on the coast.

Additionally, Day 6. Whale Watching (December to March) in Puerto Vallarta.

We recommend taking advantage of this unique opportunity to observe humpback whales in their natural habitat. An early departure from the hotel. Today, you will witness one of nature’s wonders – the Humpback Whale. A ride on a special inflatable boat will allow you to observe these amazing creatures up close. Imagine: a huge ten-story house suddenly comes to life and floats in the sea, emitting fountains. Sometimes it leaps out of the water and falls back, sending tons of spray into the air. Such a sight is truly priceless!

The Greek word “whale” translates as “monster.” But this designation does not fit humpbacks at all. Of course, it’s hard to call humpbacks beauties from a human perspective. But these majestic creatures have such incredible charisma and playful nature that they cannot leave a person indifferent. They slap their tails and fins, turning the sea water into foam. Their spinning in the water resembles a dance. Despite their huge size, humpbacks gracefully breach, leaping out of the water and splashing down with a deafening splash. And all this is accompanied by complex melodic sequences of sounds. Some of these sounds are in the audible range for us. These sounds can confidently be called songs. One such whale song can last up to 30 minutes. During mating games, humpbacks gently touch each other, affectionately rubbing their sides and nuzzling.
