Day 1. Los Mochis- El Fuerte

Arrive at Los Mochis airport where you will be greeted by our representatives and transferred to the colonial city of El Fuerte, “Pueblo Mágico.” The transfer takes about two hours. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and you will have the rest of the day free to enjoy this beautiful magical town.

Stroll through the cobblestone streets, visit its colonial church, city hall, the local market, and museum, take a relaxing walk along the river that runs alongside the hotel, or simply enjoy the beautiful hotel facilities. We also recommend trying the delicious seafood dishes offered by various local restaurants or at your hotel; our recommendation is Cauque or Gambón de Río!

Your travel documents containing hotel vouchers, train tickets, and itinerary will be at the hotel reception, please request them upon arrival.

Day 2. El Fuerte – Bauhichivo – Cerocahui

All aboard!

This morning at 8:00 am you will be transferred from your hotel to the train station to board the first-class carriages of the Ferromex Chihuahua train bound for Pacific Express, better known as “Chepe,” at 8:30 am. Enjoy the most interesting part of the journey on the train as it crosses several bridges and tunnels that adorn the breathtaking views offered by the Sierra Madre; all this in the comfort of the train that offers a restaurant car and reclining passenger seats.

Arrival at Bahuichivo station around 1:00 pm and transfer to Cerocahui by hotel staff. After checking in at your hotel, you can have your lunch (included in the hotel). Free time to explore its points of interest such as the central square, the old Jesuit mission, and the girls’ Tarahumara hostel, all of which are very close to your hotel.

Day 3. Bauhchivo – Posada Barrancas (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

All aboard!

Breakfast. Then you will take a guided tour by hotel staff to Cerro del Gallego “spectacular viewpoint of the Urique Canyon.” Enjoy the most impressive view of the Urique Canyon from where you can appreciate the river and the mining town that bears its name; also on the way, you will have a beautiful view of the canyon and various Tarahumara valleys. At noon, hotel staff will transfer you to the train station to board the Chepe train at 1:00 pm bound for Divisadero / Posada Barrancas. Upon arrival around 2:00 pm, transfer to the hotel by hotel staff.

In the afternoon, you will take a guided walk along the canyon rim (check times at reception). Then enjoy the Tarahumara sunset from the windows and balconies of your hotel. Dinner is included at the hotel.

This afternoon enjoy the wonderful sunset that Barrancas del Cobre gives us. The stunning view from the windows and balconies of the hotel will allow you to appreciate the beauty of the place and understand the immensity of the Tarahumara world!

 

Day 4. Divisadero / Posada Barrancas – Creel

Breakfast is included at the hotel and then you will have the morning free to explore on your own. We suggest visiting the Barrancas del Cobre Adventure Park located in the area where you can visit different viewpoints, such as the hanging stone viewpoint. Challenge your adventurous spirit on the suspension bridge that crosses a small canyon, ride the cable car or ziplines (optional included), or simply buy beautiful Tarahumara crafts. Lunch is included at the hotel. After midday, transfer to the train station by hotel staff to board the Chepe train at around 2:00 pm bound for Creel. Arrive around 4:00 pm and transfer to your hotel by hotel staff. Then you will have the rest of the day to enjoy this picturesque “Pueblo Mágico” Tarahumara.

Day 5. Creel – Chihuahua with a visit to Mennonite fields

This morning at 10:00 am your guide/driver will contact you at the hotel reception for a tour of Creel visiting Lake Arareco, the Valley of the Mushrooms and Frogs (rock formations), the old Jesuit Mission of San Ignacio (Tarahumara church), and a cave inhabited by Tarahumaras. Then you will be transferred to the city of Chihuahua. On the way, you will visit the Mennonite Community in the city of Cuauhtémoc (closed on Sundays) where you will enjoy a traditional snack (light meal) based on Mennonite cheese, cold cuts, pickles, bread, cookies, jam, coffee, and tea; all made and served by Mennonites.

After our interesting stop, we will continue to the city of Chihuahua. Once there, you will have the rest of the afternoon free.

  • Accommodation: Hotel Casa Grande, Hotel Quality Inn or Hotel Palacio del Sol/subject to availability.

 

Day 6. Tour in Chihuahua

Breakfast is included at the hotel. Then in the morning, you will enjoy a guided tour of the city’s main attractions (pick-up time will be set the day before) Visit to the Pancho Villa Museum (closed on Mondays), Government Palace, and a walk through descriptive murals depicting the state’s history, the Cathedral, the Colonial Aqueduct, and the residential area.

Transfer to the airport by our staff two hours before your flight. End of the program.
