Description of the Itinerary

COPPER CANYON

Day 1. Los Mochis- El Fuerte

We will meet you at the airport to transfer you to your hotel in the colonial town of El Fuerte “Pueblo Magico”. The journey is two hours. Once you are checked in at your hotel you will have the rest of the day free to enjoy this beautiful magic village. If your arrival is early, we recommend taking a boat ride along the river El Fuerte or simply stroll through the cobbled streets of this magical village, you could visit its colonial church, the municipal palace, the market, the local museum, Or take a hike along the river bank that crosses beside your hotel or you could just enjoy the beautiful facilities of your hotel. To eat you will have a great variety of local restaurants to delight your palate with rich seafood dishes. Our recommendation: Cauque or river prown!

Your travel documents containing hotel coupons, train tickets and itinerary will be at your hotel reception, please request them upon arrival.

Day 2. El Fuerte – Bauhichivo – Cerocahui

All aboard!

In the morning, around 08:00 am, we will pick you up to take you to the train station at 8:30 am. in order to board first class cars in the CHEPE (Ferromex Chihuahua to Pacifico Express train). You will be able to enjoy the beautiful route, the bridges and tunnels that adorn the breathtaking views that the Sierra Madre offers. The train offers dining car.

Arrival at Bahuichivo station at approximately 1:00 pm and from there you will be transferred to Cerocahui by hotel staff. After check in at your hotel you can enjoy a rich meal included in the hotel. You will have free time to visit on your own the surroundings like the central square, the old Jesuit Mission which is one of the most beautiful of the trip, the Tarahumara girls refuge, etc. Dinner included in the hotel.

Day 3. Cerocahui – Divisadero / Posada Barrancas

All aboard!

After breakfast you will take a walk along the famous “Cerro del Gallego Mirador”, one of the highest canyon of this circuit and a spectacular viewpoint of the Urique Canyon from where you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the river and the miner town of the same name .

Return to your hotel to check out. Transfer to the train station to board the Chepe train at 1:00 pm. approx. to Barrancas. Arrival at approximately 2:30 pm, transfer to your hotel by hotel staff.

Once installed, in the afternoon you could a guided walk along the edge of the canyon (please check schedules at reception). Afterwards we recommend you to enjoy and admire a beautiful Tarahumara sunset, appreciate the beauty of the place and the immensity of the Tarahumara world.

Day 4. Divisadero / Posada Barrancas – Creel

All aboard!

Breakfast is included in the hotel. Free morning to take a walk on your own. We suggest to visit the Parque Aventura Barrancas del Cobre where you can visit the different viewpoints, such as the stone lookout tower, you could challenge your adventurous spirit in the hanging bridge that crosses a small canyon, make a ride on the cable car or in zip lines (optional- not included), or you could simply admire and buy beautiful Tarahumara handcraft. Meal in the hotel is included. At noon transfer to the train station by hotel staff to board the Chepe train at approximately 2:00 pm to Creel. Arrival at Creel at approximately 4:00 pm and transfer to your hotel by staff. Once registered in your hotel you will have the rest of the day free to enjoy this picturesque village Tarahumara “Pueblo Mágico”.

Day 6. Chihuahua Tour and Departure

After your breakfast (included in the hotel) we will pick you up to enjoy a guided tour of the main points of interest of the city, visiting the Museum of Pancho Villa (closed Mondays), Government Palace and its descriptive murals of history of the state, the Cathedral, the Colonial Aqueduct and the residential area.

Transfer to the airport two hours prior to your flight. End of program.

Day 5. Creel-Chihuahua with visit to Mennonite Fields

Around 10:00 am we will pick you uo at your hotel to take you for a walk around Creel visiting Lake Arareco, the Valley of the Mushrooms and Frogs (rock formations), the old Jesuit Mission of San Ignacio (Tarahumara Church) and a cave inhabited by Tarahumaras. Then we will continue our journey by road to the city of Chihuahua. On the way we will visit a Mennonite Community in the city of Cuauhtémoc (closed on Sundays) where we will enjoy a traditional snack (light food) based on Mennonite cheese, cold meat, pickles, bread, cookies, jam, coffee and tea; All this elaborated and attended by Mennonites.

After our interesting visit we will continue to the city of Chihuahua where you will have the rest of the afternoon free.
