Day 1
Cancun / Riviera Maya – Cobá (180 km) – Chichen Itza (115 km) – Cenote Ik-Kil – Merida (130 km).
Our tour begins with a visit to the ancient city of Coba, located in the heart of the jungle. You could also rent a bike or a taxi bike to take a tour in the middle of the virgin jungle where you can find ancient temples and stelae with Mayan hieroglyphs.
Then we will go to the center of the Peninsula to visit Chichen Itza, the important center of Mayan culture and recently recognized not only as a World Cultural Heritage but also as one of the 7 New Wonders of the World. You will witness grand buildings such as The Pyramid of Kukulcan, The Temple of the Jaguar, The Temple of the Warriors, The Observatory, The Ball Court and much more. After this visit you can refresh yourself and enjoy the crystal clear waters of the Cenote Ik Kil. We will continue our way to Merida, the capital of the state of Yucatan and known as The White City.
Lodging at the hotel and in the afternoon a stroll through this beautiful colonial city, the impressive Cathedral, The Town Hall, The Governor’s House, Independence Square, St. Ildefonso’s Cathedral, Paseo Montejo with its famous white houses. Overnight.
Day 2
Merida – cocoa plantation – Uxmal (85 km) – Reserve of pink flamingos in Celestún (130 km) -Mérida
Breakfast. The second day begins with a highlight of the program – a tour of the cocoa plantations and its museum where you will taste the delicious cocoa drink, prepared according to the ancient Mayan recipe. You will witness a Sacred Mayan Ceremony performed by true Indian shamans. Later we will go to the majestic city of Uxmal, where, legend says, a magician built the pyramid in only one night and where they say, still live the guardians of the forest called “Aluxes”. You will undoubtedly marvel at the beauty of the Governor’s Palace, the House of the Turtles, the Courtyard of the Pigeons and the Convent of the Nuns. After Uxmal you will be able to familiarize yourself with a true miracle of nature – The Celestún Biosphere Reserve. Here, thousands of species of animals and birds are housed throughout the year. One of the main attractions of the reserve is the huge population of pink flamingos in the Caribbean. You will see crocodiles, rare species of turtles, herons, and many other creatures. In the afternoon return to Merida.
Day 3
Mérida – Ek Balam (185 km) – Valladolid – Tequilera – Riviera Maya / Cancun (80/150 km).
Breakfast. We will leave early for the city of the Black Jaguar – Ek Balam – one of the most mysterious places in the Mayan civilization where research is still underway and frequently new findings. These discoveries of this hidden city between the jungle and Mayan ceremonial center, that until recently was closed to the public, has changed the perception that was had on the Mayan culture. There you will see the main Acropolis, the jaguar-shaped secret chamber (recently discovered), the twin buildings, the observatory and other equally interesting buildings.
We will continue our journey towards the historic center of Valladolid where we still breathe the charm of the colonial era. Near the center is the tequila factory where you will have the opportunity to taste the famous drink as well as know its production process.
At the end we will leave for your hotel in Cancun or Riviera Maya according to your reservation.
