DAY 1 Friday. Cancun / Chichén Itzá / Merida
Meeting at your hotel in Cancun or Riviera Maya. We will go towards the center of the peninsula for the inspection of the unique and unequaled Mayan archaeological zone – Chichen Itza. This ancient city is one of the Seven New Wonders of the World and World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Great constructions, the Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent or Kukulkan, Temple of the Warriors, the world’s most famous ball court Pok Ta Pok, Temple of the Jaguars, Observatory and other temples presented to you in its form original. Then visit the Sacred Cenote. Lunch at the restaurant. We will continue the trip to Merida followed by a panoramic tour of the city better known as the “White City”, which has colonial houses, as well as houses dating back to the beginning of the century in Arabic, French and Italian styles. These houses have witnessed all the wealth that has been generated thanks to the culture of sisal.
Stop at the Zócalo de Mérida, where visitors can admire the main monuments of the city, such as, the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the Municipal Palace and Francisco Montejo House Check-in at the Holiday Inn or similar.
DAY 2 Mérida / Uxmal / Merida
Visit the archaeological zone of Uxmal that means “built in three stages”, and is a typical example of the classical and postclassic Mayan period. According to the stories, Uxmal still has numerous legends. Thus, legend has it that the Pyramid-temple was built by the fortune teller in a single night, and that in the city still live forest guards called alushes. You will surely be surprised by the beauty of the governor’s palace, the House of the Turtles, the courtyard of the dove and the Monastery of the nuns. Lunch at a restaurant in Uxmal. Return to Merida in the afternoon. Accommodation.
DAY 3 Mérida – Ek Balam – Coba – Riviera Maya / Cancun
Breakfast. We will leave early for the city of the Black Jaguar – Ek Balam – one of the most mysterious places in the Mayan civilization where research is still underway and frequently new findings. These discoveries of this hidden city between the jungle and Mayan ceremonial center, that until recently was closed to the public, has changed the perception that was had on the Mayan culture. There you will see the main Acropolis, the jaguar-shaped secret chamber (recently discovered), the twin buildings, the observatory and other equally interesting buildings.
We will continue with the visit to the ancient city of Cobá, located in the heart of the jungle. There, you can climb to the highest pyramid of the Peninsula (42m), from the top, as a reward you will enjoy a sight that will take your breath away. You could also take a bike tour or a bike taxi in the middle of the virgin jungle where you can find ancient temples and stelae with Mayan hieroglyphs.
At the end we will leave Cancun and / or Riviera Maya according to your reservation.
