Day 1. Tulum – Bacalar Lagoon – Xpujil
After breakfast we will set off on a journey to a stunning Maya town on the coast of the Caribbean Sea. In Tulum you will take the best pictures throughout your whole vacation. Then you will see Bacalar which is called the Lagoon of Seven Colors – from turquoise till deep blue. In the evening we will arrive in Xpujil and stay at the Hotel Chicana Ecovillage 4⭐ (or similar).
Day 2. Xpujil – Becan – Palenque (370km)
Becán is a remote archaeological site of the Maya civilization. Becan whose name means “path of the serpent” was built between A.D. 200 and 600.
This pearl of the Mayan architecture is surrounded by the jungle. That is why it is not so easy to reach it. Being in this town you will feel like real explorers.
After the trip we will set off to Palenque (Chiapas) and arrive in the evening. After checking in at the hotel, you will have free time in the evening to take a walk around the city.
Day 3. Palenque – Campeche
After the breakfast we will visit the archeological zone of Palenque. This zone used to be one of the most significant towns of the Maya period where one of the most powerful dynasties was ruling. Pakal, whose portraits you will see depicted on all gifts in the region, belonged to this dynasty.
Our guide will tell you about him and about the legends connected with this mysterious city. Until now 90% of this town is covered by the jungle, and the place keeps a lot of secrets.
The most famous constructions here are the Temple of Inscriptions, where the Pakal´s tomb was discovered, the Temple of the Sun, the aqueduct which supplied the city with water and, according to the Maya, was a portal to the Underworld. From the year 1987 the city has been protected.
Day 4. Campeche – Uxmal (160) – Merida (85 km)
In the morning you will visit the legendary Uxmal. It is believed, The Temple of the Magician Pyramid was built only in one night, and the forest guardians the Aluxes still live in the town. You will be impressed by the beauty of the Palace of the Governor, the House of the Turtles, the House of Pigeons, the Convent. Afterwards, you will visit an old hacienda and discover the world of Spanish aristocrats.
Return to Merida, free time.
DAY 5 MERIDA – CHICHEN ITZA – CENOTE – CANCUN
Breakfast. Departure to the center of Yucatan peninsula and its main attraction – Chichen-Itza. This ancient town is recognized as one of the Seven Wonders and is protected by UNESCO. The Kukulkan Pyramid, The Temple of Warriors, the biggest field for the ballgame Pok-ta-Pok, the Temple of Jaguars, the Observatory and other stunning constructions. Then you may experience the healing properties of the cenote waters. Transfer to Cancun or Rivera to the previously booked hotel.
