Day of the Death in Oaxaca 2026

DAY 1: 29.10.26 – MEXICO CITY
Arrival in Mexico City. Transfer to the hotel (driver only). Hotel accommodation.

DAY 2: 30.10.26 – TEOTIHUACAN + CITY TOUR (approximately 6 hours)
City tour of downtown includes a visit to Zócalo Square, the political center of the country, and the Metropolitan Cathedral. You will also see Mexico City’s most beautiful street – Paseo de la Reforma, which is famous for its many monuments and statues.

During this period, Reforma Street transforms with giant skulls painted in Mexican motifs installed along the avenue. At the main Zócalo Square, ornately decorated altars with bright flowers, candles, and folkloric figures are displayed in celebration of Día de Muertos.

Afterwards, you will explore the “city where people become gods” – Teotihuacan, visiting the famous Sun and Moon Pyramids. You will also visit a stone workshop museum to learn about the Aztec stone cult and see replicas of sculptures and masks made from sacred obsidian.

Lunch is not included. Return to the hotel.

In the evening at 18:00, transfer to Porfirio’s Restaurant for dinner (dinner not included).
Porfirio’s is an elegant restaurant in Mexico City, known for its modern interpretation of traditional Mexican cuisine, featuring fresh local ingredients, classic recipes, and signature creations. The restaurant also offers an extensive selection of tequila, mezcal, and carefully curated wines.

DAY 3: 31.10.26 – MEXICO CITY – CHOLULA PYRAMID – PUEBLA (130 km)
After breakfast, transfer to the colonial city of Puebla. According to legend, an angel appeared to a bishop, indicating the location of the future city.

The picturesque road leads to the “City of Angels,” guarded by the active volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl. The city impresses with its colonial architecture and UNESCO-listed monuments such as the Chapel of Rosario, Santo Domingo Monastery, and the City Cathedral.

Churches and houses decorated with Talavera tiles, combined with views of mountains and volcanoes, make Puebla a paradise for lovers of photography and historic architecture.

As the gastronomic capital of Mexico, Puebla offers unforgettable flavors. Be sure to try mole poblano and the famous chiles en nogada.

Rest at the hotel.

DAY 4: 01.11.26 – PUEBLA – OAXACA – CITY SIGHTSEEING TOUR / CEMETERY VISIT (345 km)
After breakfast, departure to Oaxaca, one of the most authentic and vibrant cities in Mexico and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The journey passes through scenic mountain landscapes.

Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel and time to rest.

During Día de Muertos, Oaxaca becomes a living spectacle with colorful altars, marigold flowers, candles, musicians, children dressed as Catrinas, and the aroma of hot chocolate.

Visit Santa Catarina Square, where parades, live music, street performers, and traditional dancers create a festive atmosphere.

In the evening, you may join the traditional comparsa processions or visit a local cemetery, where families decorate graves with flowers, candles, fruits, and favorite foods of their loved ones.

Return to the hotel. Overnight in Oaxaca.

DAY 5: 02.11.26 – OAXACA – LOCAL MARKET – MONTE ALBÁN PYRAMIDS
Visit the 20 de Noviembre Market, observing locals preparing for the celebration and purchasing traditional foods such as pan de muerto and chocolate.

Later, visit the ceremonial center of Monte Albán, the first city in Mesoamerica and the former political and economic center of the Zapotec civilization.

Return to the city, beautifully decorated with flowers and candles, with the air filled with aromas of cocoa, copal incense, and street food.

Overnight in Oaxaca.

DAY 6: 03.11.26 – OAXACA – CANCUN
Transfer to the airport (driver only) and flight to Cancun.

Arrival at Cancun airport and transfer to the selected hotel for the continuation of your stay (driver only).

DAY 7: 04.11.26 – HOTEL REST DAY

DAY 8: 05.11.26 – EK BALAM – CENOTE SWIMMING – VALLADOLID – CANCUN (approximately 10 hours)
Visit Ek Balam, a Maya archaeological site known for its well-preserved stucco sculptures and impressive Acropolis, once the ruler’s palace.

In the afternoon, swim in a cenote with crystal-clear water and visit Valladolid, one of the first colonial cities in Mexico.

DAY 9: 06.11.26 – HOTEL REST DAY

DAY 10: 07.11.26 – TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT
